Pebble Meditation Song

"Pebble Meditation" appears on our EARTH album. This song shares Thich Nhat Hanh's wonderful Pebble Meditation practice, combined with some new lyrics. I have taught this practice to my own children and the families with whom I share mindfulness, and it is deep and powerful and relaxing and magical and fun and loving!

Please check out the wonderful books listed below if you want to learn more about the practice and/or teach it to your children.

Some lyrics reprinted from "Planting Seeds: Practicing Mindfulness with Children" (2011) by Thich Nhat Hanh and the Plum Village Community with permission of Parallax Press, Berkeley, California. www.parallax.org

Some lyrics reprinted from "A Handful of Quiet: Happiness in Four Pebbles" (2012) by Thich Nhat Hanh with permission of Parallax Press, Berkeley, California,  www.parallax.org.

Please note: If you'd like the song in a different key, let me know via email and I'll be happy to send it to you!

Lyrics:

Verse 1
Breathing in, I see myself as a flower
Breathing out, I feel fresh and new
Breathing in, I see myself as a flower
Breathing out, I feel fresh and new

Flower, fresh
Flower, fresh
Flower, fresh

Verse 2
Breathing in, I see myself as a mountain
Breathing out, I feel solid and sure
Breathing in, I see myself as a mountain
Breathing out, I feel solid and sure

Mountain, solid
Mountain, solid
Mountain, solid

Verse 3
Breathing in, I see myself as still water
Breathing out, I reflect things as they are
Breathing in, I see myself as still water
Breathing out, I reflect things as they are

Still water, reflecting
Still water, reflecting
Still water, reflecting

Verse 4
Breathing in, I see myself as space
Breathing out, I feel free
Breathing in, I see myself as space
Breathing out, I feel free

Space, free
Space, free
Space, free

Bridge
Fresh, solid, reflecting and free
Patient, understanding, full of generosity
Peaceful and grateful, kind awake and true
Full of love for me, and full of love for you
Joyful and mindful, remembering how to be
Fresh, solid, reflecting and free
