February's song, Row Row Row Your Boat, is the latest in a series of JAMband songs that re-interpret children's nursery rhymes in a funky wordplay-driven way (first came Hey Diddle Diddle, then Partner Dance aka Ring Around the Rosie, then of course Twinkle Twinkle). Kids in my classes LOVE the dance that goes along with this one, and the silliness of all the things we're doing to the boat OTHER than rowing it. And of course they love to freeze at the "where she stops". The words pay homage to the wonderful, trippy, magical, here-and-nowness of life and our journey through it. And check out the really funky groove and underwater guitar solo!
