Charity regularly brings her award-winning and original music and dance to pre-schools and elementary schools (K-3) around the Bay Area. She presents school-wide assemblies, individualized classroom workshops, and parent education workshops. A typical assembly or workshop might include:
* guiding the children, teachers and/or parents in an uplifting, fun and educational song-and-dance experience
* introducing dramatic play that ties the songs together with stories
* sharing the creative process of songwriting and guiding the children in writing their own songs
* discussing with parents and teachers the importance of both music and movement for brain development, health and happiness
* teaching movement activities that awaken the spirit
Charity also collaborates with author Andrea Alban Gosline to create assemblies and workshops for children aged K-3. These inspiring sessions revolve around Andrea's and her artist partner Lisa Bossi's latest children's book release, January's Child: The Birthday Month Book (Scholastic Press, January 2007, Lead Title), the music Charity composed and recorded to accompany the book (January's Child: The Birthday Month Song), and other birthday-related songs of Charity's.
In their presentation, Charity and Andrea combine music, movement and an exploration of the poetry of the book into a rousing, inspirational and deeply personal experience for children and grown-ups alike.
January's Child is a fresh ode to birthdays, in which every birth month is celebrated for its unique gifts and positive qualities. With soulful verse and luminous paintings, Andrea and Lisa have created a keepsake that is perfect for welcoming new babies and celebrating ever birthday and milestone.
